Bearwood Handmade December…Cakes, Bakes and Sweet Sweet Treats

Along with the truly beautiful biscuits that Honeycat Cookies will be selling on Saturday we have lots more delicious sweet treats for our lucky visitors to enjoy. Make your way to the back room for a cuppa and you’ll meet the double delight of Bearwood favourites Jenny and Ita.

Jenny aka Charlie’s Mom’s Chocolate Factory will have a stall ‘choc full’ of luxury chocolate treats at affordable prices. No Christmas stocking is complete without something from her stall.

Ita McKenna of The Time For Company makes prize-winning jams and preserves using fresh produce in season and where possible home grown. “I love to look for new recipes as well as the firm favourites.” Ita’s delicious homemade cooking went down really well at the Crafty Pantry Food Festival and her beautifully packaged preserves make lovely, thoughtful gifts.  And don’t forget the mincemeat for your pies! Alongside the preserves Ita sells a range of handmade items like cushions, aprons, bunting and little keepsakes.

Priscilla from Made With Fudge will be keeping our sweet tooth more than happy with her wonderfully decadent and totally irresistible melt in the mouth fudge. Homemade and hand crafted, it’s pure indulgence.

Finally, The Baking Housewife, Joan, is bringing us a slice of the Caribbean for Christmas with her famous rum cakes, cordials & preserves. Spice up your festive table!

Bearwood Handmade December…Even More Lovely Makers

Kate Pennington produces greeting cards, Christmas cards, prints and commissioned work under the name Little Penn, as well as tea towels, hand printed tote bags and textiles. “I am currently in the process of designing and making a series of hand printed Christmas decorations and table runners for the festive season. I love to doodle and sketch and take inspiration from all sorts of areas including folklore, myth, wildlife and the world around me.

Pat Wilkes aka Starlight Keepsakes and Gifts will be selling a mix of wooden and stitched gift items, some made from recycled materials. “I love to create – it means so much it has become a way of life and I get inspiration from all sorts of places and love to put my own twist on to everything I make. I use mixed media but my true love is stitching and using recycled and reloved materials. I love vintage and spend hours treasure hunting to find the materials I can use to bring unloved things to life so they can be loved again. I would describe my products as vintage inspired gifts with meaning.

Yi-Jhu Huang (Vivian) is a Taiwanese jewellery designer and maker based in the UK. Yi-Jhu trained in Metalsmithing & Jewellery Design in Taiwan and now she is studying a Masters in Jewellery, Silversmithing and related products at Birmingham City University.  Jewellery for Yi-Jhu is like a wearable art work. Yi-Jhu is inspired by stories and visual art images and all of her works are handmade and unique.

Peta Jackson of Squeaky Clean Soap says “I began making soap as a school holiday project with a friend’s daughter. I source my ingredients as ethically as I am able and aim to produce good quality soap that looks gorgeous, smells fantastic and is a joy to use. Everyone deserves a little bit of luxury!” Peta will be selling palm free soap, hand made using the traditional cold process method. Vegetarian and a substantial range of Vegan options too.

Rebecca Smith of The Paper Rose Boutique joins us again with her multi media crafting, with a focus on flowers made from handmade and unusual papers.

Rebecca says “I geek out over crafting supplies. I have now been doing this for almost 4 years and my style has evolved over this time and incorporated more elements. I am always trying something new, including bridal bouquets.”

Discovering Blacksmithing after his Art and Design education, Ian Moran‘s work involves site specific sculptural, functional, interior and exterior elements.

As a constant I strive for simple well executed details.” Ian says. He’ll be selling finely wrought domestic items and giftware on Saturday.

They’ve been with us since the very first Bearwood Handmade and we’re always delighted to have them back – three generations of artists from the same family under one roof!

The White Flamingo Gift Company promotes the artwork of the mother and daughter team of Eliza Harris and El Swain who both live and work in the West Midlands. Eliza, who trained in fashion and textile design, is an artist making hand crafted brooches, earrings and hair accessories using both new and vintage fabrics. She also produces a range of hand-painted champagne and wine cork characters called ‘corkies’. Her daughter, El Swain is an illustrator based in Rugby. She produces work in watercolour and pen and ink of which we sell originals as well as cards and prints.

Black Horse Gifts promotes the work of West Midlands artist, Barbara Neave, who uses new and recycled wood and a combination of painting carving and pyrography to produce original art pieces inspired by folk art and a love of nature. All items can be ordered and Barbara also takes commissions.
