THE BEARWOOD TAPESTRY

THE BEARWOOD TAPESTRY

(a history)

It began with just a small group of friends. We would meet once a month in each other’s houses, listen to music, drink, and craft away. Then word got out, and more people wanted to come and join the fun. Alas, our English Victorian terraced houses were a bit too wee to hold us all… so, like most British traditions… we decided to move it to a pub.

It was Thursday, February 21st, 2010, and it was snowing. We were placing bets that no one would turn up. That was the night of the very first Tap.

The Bearwood Tapestry (of The Tap), has been going on and off since that stormy evening. It grew and shrank, paused, then started again after moving to a new pub… and is now happily living at The Midland, on Bearwood Road. The Tap is where the idea of our Bearwood Handmade craft fairs began, when we were overwhelmed and inspired by all the talented makers living in the neighbourhood. It will always be where we found ourselves and our community.
